If you can’t find the answer you need, please contact us.

Direct Brain Commands are the act of controlling digital technology using your mental focus. It allows you to interact with digital games and technology without using manual controllers or gamepads, giving you a greater sense of freedom and control.

  • Intuitively. Discreet hints show you the mind-enabled objects you can focus on.
  • Instantly. Your neural signals are translated into digital commands in real-time.
  • Intentionally. Your active focus over objects allows you to control them.

No. NextMind does not read your thoughts. NextMind technology identifies the act of focusing attention and uses it to command digital objects in real-time.

Yes. Nextmind’s technology is designed to be intuitive and easy to use. It takes less than a minute to calibrate the device. Once the interface is set up you can start controlling digital objects with your mind.

The speed of interaction varies from person to person. But overall, the more familiar you become with the technology the easier and quicker it is to use.

  • Experience a breakthrough neurotechnology, with an easy set-up and several demo apps that allow you to feel your new sense of control.
  • Build your own brain-enabled applications with our Unity SDK, tutorials and examples.
  • Share your mind-controlled applications with other developers.

Yes. Our product is certified by regulatory authorities in all countries we currently ship to (CE, FCC, etc). NextMind’s technology uses EEG (Electroencephalography), a technique that has been used for almost a century to measure neural signals at the surface of the head.

No, NextMind does not send anything towards the Brain. The Sensor records neural activity (small signals naturally generated by neurons) like a microphone records your voice.

The NextMind Dev Kit is designed as a consumer tech device.

We only discourage its use for:

  • Patients with a history of photosensitive epilepsy
  • People under the age of 18

Yes. Our Sensor adapts to a variety of head sizes and hair types. Its comb-shaped design facilitates contact with your scalp. It may be a little more difficult to get direct contact if you have very thick or very curly hair, but the device is designed to work even if the contact is not exact. The Sensor clip-on system makes it easy to wear with headbands, caps, and AR/VR headsets.

For full instructions, check out the setup guide.

Our SDK is powered by Unity. It’s fully tested and approved on versions 2020.1.x, 2019LTS, and 2018LTS.
We’re planning to support new languages in the near future. If you have any suggestions, we’d love to hear them. Please contact us.

The NextMind Dev Kit is compatible with:

  • Windows 10
  • macOS
  • Oculus
  • HTC Vive
  • HoloLens

You can also pair up the NextMind Dev Kit with any controller you choose e.g:

  • Gamepad
  • Gesture tracker
  • Eye tracker
  • Mouse
  • Keyboard

NextMind is designed as a neurotech platform for developers:

  • Accessible. We’ve done the hard work of processing neural signals, so you can focus on creating new applications.
  • User-friendly. Easy to put on and play.
  • Adaptable. Compatible with many environments and controllers.
  • Direct. Command digital objects in real-time.
  • Unlimited. Create your own brain-enabled use cases.

With the NextMind Dev Kit, you can build the first generation of mind-controlled experiences.

NextMind measures neural activity in the visual cortex — the place where vision occurs. Whereas eye tracking measures the position of the eyeball.

Eye tracking can be a powerful tool to monitor where people are looking, but it does not require mental intent. By measuring neural signals, recognizing visual cues, and decoding the active focus of attention, NextMind technology transforms intentions into actions.

We provide developers with a Unity Software Development Kit that is presented in the documentation.

NextMind protects individual’s personal data, in full compliance with European Union regulations (GDPR).

The Sensor records your neural activity. By default, it is not shared with us. You can opt-in to safely share your data with us in order to help improve the research on the NextMind Engine and create better experiences for you.

For more details, read our Data Privacy policy.

No. The NextMind Dev Kit is built to provide an easy-to-use solution for developers, allowing them to create mind-controlled apps without having to deal with neural signal processing. Raw data is not required to build applications and access is not included in the NextMind Dev Kit.

The NextMind Sensor records the visual cortex brain waves at the back of your head. The captured neural data is securely sent to your personal computer where it is processed. Our algorithms decode this raw data in real time and transform your active visual focus over objects into input that you can use in your applications.

The neural processing operated by NextMind is designed as a turnkey solution for developers transforming complex raw data into simple commands.
